Artemisia

Artemisia is a diverse genus of plants including mugwort, wormwood, and sagebrush. Artemisinin and its derivatives from sweet wormwood (Artemisia annua) are biologically active compounds with the ability to reduce the number of Plasmodium parasites in the malaria patients. Treatments containing artemisinin derivatives (artemisinin-combination therapies) are recommended by World Health Organisation (WHO) and are standard treatment for malaria worldwide.
